Ingredients

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 7 g dried yeast
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 250 g butter (softened)
  • 4 tbsp sour cream
  • 200 g grated cheddar cheese (divided)
  • 1 beaten egg (for brushing)

Instructions

  • Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and dried yeast in a large mixing bowl.
  • Add the egg yolks, butter, and sour cream. Knead into a smooth, elastic dough. Sprinkle with a little flour, cover, and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough to 0.5 cm thick, sprinkle with half the grated cheddar cheese, and fold the dough from all four sides. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough again to 1.5 cm thick and cut out circles using a cookie cutter or glass. Let the biscuits rest for 1 hour.
  • Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Cool on a wire rack and enjoy warm!
