Description
Golden, flaky cheddar biscuits with a buttery aroma and a cheesy kick. Perfect for breakfasts, snacks, or pairing with soups and salads, these biscuits are easy to make and irresistibly delicious.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500 g plain flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- 7 g dried yeast
- 2 egg yolks
- 250 g butter (softened)
- 4 tbsp sour cream
- 200 g grated cheddar cheese (divided)
- 1 beaten egg (for brushing)
Instructions
- Combine the flour, sugar, salt, and dried yeast in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the egg yolks, butter, and sour cream. Knead into a smooth, elastic dough. Sprinkle with a little flour, cover, and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough to 0.5 cm thick, sprinkle with half the grated cheddar cheese, and fold the dough from all four sides. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the dough again to 1.5 cm thick and cut out circles using a cookie cutter or glass. Let the biscuits rest for 1 hour.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack and enjoy warm!
Notes
- For added flavor, mix herbs like chives or a pinch of garlic powder into the dough.
- These biscuits freeze well—simply reheat in the oven when ready to serve.
- Resting time is key to achieving fluffy layers, so don’t skip this step!
