Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or Caraluzzi’s Sea Salt and Five Pepper Blend)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 small tuna steaks
  • ½ cup olive oil (Caraluzzi’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil recommended)
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Combine salt, black pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Rub this mixture onto both sides of the tuna steaks.
  • Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a shallow baking dish and place the seasoned tuna steaks in the dish.
  • Whisk together the remaining olive oil, lemon juice, and teriyaki sauce. Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, basting with the seasoned oil mixture 2–3 times during cooking.
  • Check for doneness by ensuring the tuna flakes easily with a fork. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a zesty variation, swap lemon juice for lime juice.
  • If you prefer a herby touch, sprinkle chopped fresh rosemary or thyme over the steaks before baking.
  • Avoid overcooking to maintain the tuna’s natural moisture and tenderness.
