Ingredients
Scale
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper (or Caraluzzi’s Sea Salt and Five Pepper Blend)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 4 small tuna steaks
- ½ cup olive oil (Caraluzzi’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil recommended)
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine salt, black pepper, garlic, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl. Rub this mixture onto both sides of the tuna steaks.
- Pour 2 tablespoons of olive oil into a shallow baking dish and place the seasoned tuna steaks in the dish.
- Whisk together the remaining olive oil, lemon juice, and teriyaki sauce. Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated.
- Bake for 30 minutes, basting with the seasoned oil mixture 2–3 times during cooking.
- Check for doneness by ensuring the tuna flakes easily with a fork. Remove from oven and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a zesty variation, swap lemon juice for lime juice.
- If you prefer a herby touch, sprinkle chopped fresh rosemary or thyme over the steaks before baking.
- Avoid overcooking to maintain the tuna’s natural moisture and tenderness.
